Santa Rosa kitchens and family bathrooms shaped Eczema Honey before it ever reached a shelf. Minesh Patel, founder and CEO, created the line around everyday gentle care for eczema prone skin, built on familiar plants and food grade ingredients that households can trust.

Start with a small fact from Santa Rosa, California. In September 2021 three Eczema Honey products were given the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. For a small family rooted company, the acknowledgment carried weight. It spoke clearly to shoppers who have sampled many shelves and studied many labels.

Patel leads the company as founder and CEO. He explains that the products were created for ourselves and our children. His stated mission is to offer calming products that are safe, nourishing and pleasant to use. The range relies on non toxic, food grade and safe ingredients, and contains no fillers of any type. Each ingredient was picked to perform a defined role.

What holds our attention, and what many summaries overlook, is how plant centered the method stays while the collection expands. Oatmeal, honey, aloe and witch hazel keep appearing. They are not decoration, but functional ingredients selected for the way they cleanse, soften and calm the look of dry skin. Patel returns to one line worth holding: we treat people and not the condition. This talk follows that practice into the shower and the sink.

You often say that you care for the person in the chair and not only the condition. What does that look like at the sink when someone with eczema opens one of your jars?

It means comfort comes before everything. I consider texture, aroma, and the way skin appears and feels after the step. Skin that tends toward eczema may appear dry and may feel tight and itchy. I want that minute of care to feel calming and cooling. I want people to feel at ease with calming and cooling lifestyle products.

We offer natural relief products for people with eczema and sensitive skin. We do not treat the condition, we treat the person with soothing and cooling lifestyle products and help them feel at ease. So I keep the method plain. Wash softly. Apply moisture while skin remains damp. Add another layer when required. When a formula stings, carries heavy scent, or leaves skin feeling stripped, it has no place with us. Everyday use must feel gentle.

You put the start simply, that you made products for yourselves and your children. What did wash day look like then, and what did you need that no shelf product gave you?

Our own bathrooms were where we started. When a person you love feels uneasy in their skin, you observe small things. You observe the feel of bath time. You observe the feel of cloth. You observe rest. We required items for daily use that were safe, nourishing and pleasant. That remains our mission.

We make natural relief products for eczema and sensitive skin folks. We do not treat the condition, we care for the person with soothing and cooling products for routine use. The clearest way we have found is to craft natural skincare products that help people feel good. Taken together, we look ahead with real hope. We wanted care that suited an ordinary day, not a separate clinical routine that felt apart from life.

Oatmeal runs through your bath and body range for daily care. Why has that plant stayed central, from soap to lotion to body wash in the shower?

Oatmeal is calm and reliable. It is ground from a known grain, and in skin care it is prized for the way it helps skin appear and feel softer. Colloidal oatmeal creates a light film that supports moisture and softens the look of dryness. For people who find salt scrubs too rough, finely milled oatmeal offers a far softer contact.

We use it in separate forms for separate moments. In our Gentle Oatmeal and Lavender Soap, oatmeal helps provide mild washing that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. In the body wash, it rests in an ultra mild base that nurtures, hydrates and softens without removing natural oils. In the Oatmeal Body Lotion, it helps supply moisture in a light coat that does not feel sticky. One field, three textures. That is the plant guiding the routine.

Your ingredient standard is strict, food grade ingredients with no fillers added. Why did you choose that harder path, and how do you judge what belongs in the formula?

Each ingredient was chosen for high quality and fulfills a defined therapeutic role with no fillers of any kind. That remains our rule. We offer clean skincare solutions for eczema relief and sensitive skin with non toxic food grade and safe ingredients. When an ingredient lacks a clear task, we omit it.

Food grade is a form of discipline. It narrows our palette. It demands more of sourcing and testing. Yet it keeps formulas legible for people who study labels with care. I want parents and sensitive skin shoppers to recognize what touches skin. Honey with oatmeal and aloe plus plant oils and butters. These are known plants and pantry staples with long use in skin care. We place them in a modern base that is dermatologist tested, so the practice feels both familiar and thoughtful.

Your Soothing Body Wash promises to nurture without stripping natural oils away. What did you learn about cleansing sensitive skin gently in the shower?

We learned that restraint works best. Hot water and strong foam can leave eczema prone skin looking dry and tight. So we made a daily ultra mild wash that feeds, hydrates and softens dry sensitive and eczema prone skin without stripping. The foam stays soft. The rinse feels clean. After patting with a towel, skin should feel settled, not squeaky.

Method matters as much as formula. Wash with lukewarm water. Keep showers brief. Spread with hands instead of a coarse cloth. Pat skin dry then seal in moisture while it is still damp. That pattern, wash softly and moisturize quickly, sits at the center of our bathing approach. It exists to support people with soothing and cooling products for daily use, and the shower is where that day starts.

Honey is in your name. What does honey really do in a formula for dry sensitive skin, and how do you use it?

Honey acts as a humectant. It helps attract and retain water close to the surface, which supports softer appearing skin. It also lends a smooth slip that helps creams glide across rough appearing patches. I value that it arrives from hives, not from an industrial drum, and that shoppers grasp it with no glossary.

In use, honey calls for attention. It is sticky and shifts with harvest, so the base around it requires balance. We combine it with oatmeal and soft emollients so the result feels nourishing instead of tacky. Our mission is to offer soothing products that are safe, nourishing and feel good to use. When honey causes a cream to tug or feel weighty, the work is unfinished. The aim is a thin, even film that helps skin appear calm and feel at ease.

When someone you love is uncomfortable in their skin, you notice every small change.

Lavender sits beside oatmeal in your best selling soap for the bath. Lavender can be tricky on sensitive skin during routine care. How do you think about scent and essential oils for reactive skin?

I view scent as part of comfort, yet comfort must never bring irritation. Our Gentle Oatmeal and Lavender Soap offers truly mild cleansing for sensitive skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. Lavender adds a soft herbal scent that makes a simple bar feel like ritual. We hold the base mild and the bar well proportioned so washing remains gentle.

Still, I understand fragrance is individual. That is why we also craft fragrance free options, like our Fragrance Free Oatmeal Comfort Bubble Bath, which is free of fragrances and essential oils that would irritate skin. Choice allows people to soak in what fits them. Some prefer the herbal notes of lavender. Others prefer warm water and oatmeal alone. Both routines are sound.

In 2021 three products earned the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance for a gentle bath time routine. What did that review ask of you, and what did it change in practice?

Our common mission with the National Eczema Association is to empower our customers to educate themselves about how to care for their eczema, sensitive skin, and live a healthier life. The review looked at sensitivity, safety, toxicity and ingredient test data for the Original Skin Soothing Cream, the Nut Free Skin Soothing Cream and the Oatmeal Body Lotion. That outside review requested records, methods and clarity.

It altered our wording. We remain near soothing, moisture and feel. We say we bring clean skincare solutions for eczema relief and sensitive skin, and by relief we mean comfort and care, not a cure. The seal covers three products, not the full range, and we honor that limit. It reminds shoppers that steady care and plain information go together.

You are Leaping Bunny Certified and dermatologist tested for safety. How do those two checks shape sourcing from soil to shelf for you?

They inform each purchase order. Dermatologist tested means the finished blend has been reviewed for tolerance on skin in controlled conditions. That leads us to hold bases simple, skip known harsh cleansers, and assess changes before scaling. Leaping Bunny Certified Cruelty Free means our animal testing policy and supply chain satisfy an outside standard, with continued review.

On the field side, we prefer high quality plant oils, butters, honey and oatmeal from vendors able to document quality and consistency. Crops shift. We set specs, check lots, and keep the no filler rule. Using high quality food grade and cosmetic grade ingredients with no fillers is easy to print and hard to honor. The audits hold us accountable from greenhouse and hive through mixing and filling.

What should a first time buyer reach for first at the sink and in the shower to build a simple ritual morning and night?

Start at the shower and then seal. Wash daily with the Soothing Body Wash as an ultra mild cleanser, then spread the Oatmeal Body Lotion across the entire body for moisture while skin remains slightly damp. That duo handles cleanse and moisturize in two quiet moves. Place the Gentle Oatmeal and Lavender Soap at the sink for hands that meet many irritants during the day.

Hold the ritual unhurried. Brief lukewarm showers. Use a thin even layer of lotion. Add more to dry appearing spots as needed. We are devoted to helping people with soothing and cooling products for everyday use. Eczema Honey mission is to offer soothing products that are safe, nourishing and feel good. When skin feels soft, appears calm, and the pattern feels simple to maintain, you have settled into your rhythm. If itching, flaking or soreness persist, speak with a dermatologist, and for a child with ongoing flare signs, speak with a pediatrician.

Closing note from the desk

What remains after this talk is method. Patel does not vow to repair skin. He vows to ease the day, with recognizable plants and bases that respect sensitive skin. The wording stays near feel, near safe and nourishing, near soothing and cooling.

Eczema Honey began by caring for its own families, then for people who had already tried many options. Three seals, a compact ingredient account, and a clear bath to body sequence tell the story better than any promise. Wash with care, layer while damp, and let comfort set the pace.
