In brief
  • No new clean rule or startup program surfaced at four large retailers this summer
  • Sephora took 2026 Accelerate entries from March 2 through March 31
  • 41 labels have finished Accelerate, and over half now sell at Sephora

Forty one brands have finished Sephora Accelerate to date, and that total frames what happened next. Inside July 8 to October 3, 2026 no fresh clean standard update, accelerator cohort or indie program at Sephora, Ulta, Credo or Target was noted. The latest related retail move is still Sephora opening applications for its 2026 Accelerate Program on March 2, 2026.

That calendar counts for anyone who washes, masks, oils or shops for the household. Accelerate is often the place where small, plant-led skincare learns how to hold up inside prestige retail. Sephora calls it a United States led brand incubation program for prestige beauty brands in early stages and not yet widely sold. The application period for the 2026 round ended March 31. Finalists were due to be named in summer, with no dated announcement given yet. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 and hold a North American incorporated company.

The track record stays specific. So far 41 brands in makeup, skincare, hair care and fragrance have completed Sephora Accelerate. Sephora said more than half of Accelerate graduates have launched with Sephora to this point. For founders who work with leaves, oils and extracts, that route from a small-batch idea to all-door placement means slow, hands-on testing. Early calls about soil and sourcing tend to hold, or fail, once orders grow.

Recent graduates show what that scale-up can mean at the sink. EADEM grew to all Sephora stores and its Le Chouchou lip balm entered the Sephora top 10 lip moisturizers for 2025. Kulfi is now termed an all door brand with a top 3 lip stain. Topicals, an alumni of the 2021 Accelerate cohort, had one of the best selling eye masks at Sephora last year. The 7 Virtues entered Accelerate and then arrived with Sephora in 2018. Per the Sephora newsroom post, MAED is the 2026 Sephora Beauty Grant winner.

Since it began a decade ago as the first prestige retail incubator for female founders, Sephora Accelerate has helped lift new and often underrepresented views and voices in beauty. That sentence came from the Sephora Newsroom.

The wider clean picture also stayed steady during the window. Ulta Beauty says each brand certified as having Clean Ingredients follows its Made Without List for substances like parabens and phthalates. Ulta Conscious Beauty holds five standards named Clean Ingredients, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Sustainable Packaging and Positive Impact. The Credo Clean Standard asks brands to screen against a 2,700 item dirty list from aluminum to talc.

What to watch next is assortment more than standards. Who made the 2026 Sephora Accelerate cohort, and whether indie skincare brands were picked, was not stated. The joint Know Better, Do Better ingredient report, which reviewed 318,000 ingredient listings in over 8,500 products, came out Oct 22 with no year shown, so it cannot sit in the summer window.

For now, the routine stays familiar in real bathrooms. Massage in, rinse, read the label with care, and wait to see which young brands take hold.
